Kishkindha — the ancient kingdom of the Vanaras described in the Ramayana — lies in the mystical rocky landscapes near Hampi, along the Tungabhadra River in Karnataka.
Among its many sacred hills stands Anjaneya Hill, believed to be the divine birthplace of Lord Hanuman. At the summit is the temple of Sri Mahabali Hanuman along with Anjana Matha Temple, honoring Mother Anjana, where devotees climb hundreds of steps chanting “Jai Hanuman” in devotion.
According to tradition, this is the land where:
-
Hanuman spent his childhood
-
Sugriva ruled the Vanara kingdom
-
Lord Rama first met Hanuman — beginning the eternal bond of devotion
The atmosphere here feels timeless — wind sweeping across boulders, bells echoing through the valley, and a spiritual silence that connects one directly to the era of the Ramayana.
Personal Experience:
When I visited Kishkindha, the climb itself felt like a pilgrimage rather than a trek. With every step, the mind became calmer. Reaching the hilltop temple brought an unexplainable peace — a feeling of courage and protection, as if Lord Hanuman himself blesses every devotee who makes the effort to reach him.
Kishkindha is not just a place to see —
it is a place to feel faith, strength, and surrender.
